- 2 large ripe persimmons, chopped
- ½ cup full-fat canned coconut milk, or almond milk
- ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
- 3-5 ice cubes
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
- 1 clove or a pinch ground cloves
When choosing persimmons, there are a few key factors to consider in order to select the best ones. Here are some tips to help you choose ripe and delicious persimmons:
Colour: Look for persimmons with vibrant, rich colors. The specific color will depend on the variety you are selecting. For example, Fuyu persimmons should have a deep orange hue, while Hachiya persimmons should be a bright orange-red. Avoid persimmons that appear green or pale.
Texture: Gently squeeze the persimmon to assess its firmness. Fuyu persimmons should be firm yet slightly soft, similar to a ripe tomato. Hachiya persimmons, on the other hand, are typically softer and have a custard-like texture when fully ripe. Choose persimmons that yield slightly to pressure without being mushy.
