Health Benefits

Pear

Pears come into season during Autumn and help add some much need moisture to our dry lungs from the summer’s heat. They act as an appetite suppressant and stomach tonic to prevent you from overeating at meals.

Pears are gentle on the digestive system and naturally hydrating. They contain a high level of soluble and insoluble fibre, which helps cleanse the colon, regulate bowel movements, and supports smooth digestion. Pears are especially valuable for those with sensitive digestive systems as their anti-inflammatory properties can soothe irritation and balance the stomach.

Nutrition: Pears are an excellent source of dietary fibre, vitamin C, potassium, and copper. These nutrients support immune health, maintain cellular integrity, and promote heart health. Pears also contain flavonoids and antioxidants like quercetin, which help reduce inflammation and protect against cellular damage.

All Systems: Pears aid the body in eliminating toxins and are often recommended for their mild detoxifying properties. They help hydrate the skin, cleanse the blood, support immune function, and reduce the effects of oxidative stress. Due to their cooling effect, they can help relieve fever, nourish the lungs, and moisten the throat.

Cardiovascular / Circulatory System: The potassium in pears helps maintain healthy blood pressure by balancing fluids in the body. The fiber in pears also binds to bile acids, which may help lower cholesterol levels. Additionally, the antioxidants found in pears reduce oxidative stress, which contributes to better heart health and lowers the risk of heart disease.

Digestive System: Pears are a natural source of pectin, a type of soluble fibre that feeds beneficial gut bacteria and acts as a gentle cleanser for the colon. Their fibre content supports regularity, while the anti-inflammatory effects can soothe stomach and intestinal irritation. Pears are also gentle on the stomach and are often well-tolerated by people with food sensitivities.

Endocrine System: Pears support the pancreas by regulating blood sugar and ease stress on the adrenals with their hydrating, anti-inflammatory properties.

Integumentary (Skin) System: The vitamin C and antioxidants in pears promote collagen production, aiding skin health and elasticity. Pears' hydration benefits also support clear skin and reduce dryness. Due to their anti-inflammatory effects, they can be beneficial for those with skin conditions, such as eczema and rosacea.

Pears are often overlooked by the apple for everyday juicing, but just like apples they are one of the top life-changing foods to consume.

Tip:  when a pear is hard and crunchy it juices better, and its fibre content is higher. When a pear is soft, its glucose levels are higher, it is very easy to digest and better eaten or blended in a smoothie.

Green Apple

Green apples are crisp, refreshing, and slightly tart — a perfect juicing ingredient known for their cleansing properties and gentle, steady energy. They’re rich in fibre, antioxidants, and essential vitamins that help support digestion, blood sugar balance, and overall vitality. Their light sweetness and hydrating nature make them an easy, everyday staple for juices aimed at clarity, cleansing, and daily wellness.

Nutrition: Green apples contain vitamin C for immune protection, potassium for healthy blood pressure and cellular balance, vitamin K for blood health, and small amounts of B-vitamins to support energy production. They also provide pectin, a soluble fibre known for its gut-healing benefits, plus antioxidant compounds like quercetin, catechin, and chlorogenic acid that help reduce inflammation and protect cells from oxidative stress.

Note: All apples have a perfect 5-pointed star when cut across the middle. This star represents a human being standing with arms outstretched in the shape of a star. The old saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away is an ancient truth. Apples have been designed by mother nature as an everyday health-preserving, disease-fighting food.

Cardiovascular / Circulatory System: Thanks to their potassium and polyphenols, green apples help regulate blood pressure, support healthy cholesterol levels, and reduce oxidative stress within blood vessels. Their soluble fibre (pectin) supports heart health by helping maintain balanced cholesterol and smoother circulation.

Digestive System: Green apples are one of the best juicing ingredients for digestion due to their high pectin content, which supports a healthy gut lining and feeds beneficial bacteria. They are gentle on the stomach, help promote regular bowel movements, and offer natural acids that support digestive enzyme activity.

Immune System: Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, green apples help strengthen the immune system by reducing inflammation and supporting the body’s natural defence mechanisms. The combination of quercetin and vitamin C enhances immune resilience, especially during times of stress or seasonal illness.

Brain & Nervous System: Green apples contain quercetin, a powerful antioxidant known to protect brain cells from oxidative stress. Their natural glucose provides clean energy for improved focus and mental clarity, while vitamin C supports neurotransmitter production. The hydration from juicing also helps maintain concentration and cognitive performance. The potassium in green apples supports healthy nerve conduction and communication throughout the body. Their antioxidant compounds help protect nerve cells from damage, contributing to better stress response, mood stability, and overall neurological health.

Kidneys / Urinary System: Green apples are naturally hydrating and support healthy kidney function by helping to flush waste and maintain electrolyte balance. Their gentle alkalising effect can help reduce acidity in the body, supporting overall urinary health and natural detoxification.

Kiwi

Kiwi fruit is a nutrient-rich fruit known for its vibrant green color, sweet flavor, and health benefits due to high amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin.

Nutrition: A single serving of kiwi fruit, which consists of two medium-sized ones, is the richest source of lutein in the plant food world, right behind yellow corn.

Cardiovascular / Circulatory System: Enjoying just a couple of kiwi fruit each day can significantly lower your risk for blood clots and reduce the number of fats (triglycerides) in your blood. These benefits make kiwi a delicious, blood-thinning natural alternative to aspirin for protecting cardiovascular health. Kiwi is packed with lutein, a phytochemical that is very effective in reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease.

Nervous System: Kiwi seeds are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for cognitive function and can help prevent the development of ADHD and autism. They are also very beneficial for our eyes due to their high content of lutein and zeaxanthin, which are antioxidants that can help protect against age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. These compounds are found in high concentrations in the retina and play a crucial role in maintaining eye health.

Respiratory System: Some studies suggest that kiwi consumption may help manage asthma symptoms. The high vitamin C content and other antioxidants in kiwi may help reduce wheezing and other asthma-related symptoms. Kiwi contains antioxidants like vitamin C and other compounds that help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the respiratory tract. This can help protect against respiratory conditions and improve overall lung function.
